The concept of adoption doesn't exist in the mindset of africans in terms of actually legalising a child, we are likely to have various kids growing within a family unit, we are also masters of laying eggs in others nests. Has that eroded the society? Yes and No. It erodes the connection between the couple even if it gives additional siblings to children, polygamy had legalised the practice of having kids for other men the man presumably doesn't know but in retrospect he himself may have fathered kids in another nest which is why you see that most africans turn a blind eye to infidelities yet when a foolish one is caught they punish one to teach a lesson to all, that hasn't made anything better but has eroded the ideology of the existence of affection between women and men.
