The right of passage.

"“Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands.” ― Anne Frank

I was researching to understand what the right of passage really was. How many actually make a conscious decision to cross over? It almost seems that everyone is rushed into birth. Into woman/manhood, into society, into literarily making a decision.

What is the right time? We are living in the hood of time, given the impression that time waits for no man, yet no one prepares you consciously for anything. The right of passage to me is the time that it takes to form a character. Are we born with it or are we forced into it? Its probably both. Know thyself they say, how would you know yourself if you are always cultured into something rather than being someone or is that the same thing? I often ask the elders why are they so calm, why nothing worries them anymore? Why do they seem static to the rush? Why does no one bug them anymore? I got an answer; we no longer feel bugged and allowed to be who we are. A song makes a hit cos it was sang with passion, a character is often accepted when it is passionate about itself."
